Toronto Botanical Garden is in the geographic centre of Toronto, adjacent to Edwards Gardens, a 30-acre city park that connects to Toronto’s Don River ravine. Designed to educate and inspire, the gardens span four acres alongside Wilket Creek. Admission to the gardens is free. Throughout the year, there are numerous indoor and outdoor learning experiences available for all ages including courses for adults, garden tours and nature camps for kids.
During the summer, visitors will enjoy dining outdoors at the seasonal garden café (open daily, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or shopping at our Garden Shop (open daily, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or Thursday organic farmers’ market (2 to 7 p.m.). On Thursday evenings in July and August plan to arrive later in the day and find a seat on our café patio to enjoy free outdoor concerts in the garden. The café stays open later on concert evenings, serving up BBQ burgers, local craft beer and VQA wines.
Commencing in late May through September, volunteer guides conduct free 90-minute informative and engaging tours designed to highlight the plants, landscape design and history of the garden and natural landscape. Tours leave from the visitor centre on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m
The George and Kathy Dembroski Centre for Horticulture is LEED Silver-certified and is the main visitor centre. One of its most striking features is its sloped green roof which can be viewed from the second floor of the building or from the Garden Hall Courtyard. Inside this attractive glass pavilion you’ll find public washrooms, water fountain, free wifi, administrative offices, educational spaces, garden shop and the Weston Family Library. The library houses the largest private horticultural collection of books in Canada.
